World of Oriden
As it is told in the Story of Creation, during the Second Creation, the Human race was created by Bahamut, after the Elves, Dwarves, and Gnomes, from pieces of the four elemental planes of power in answer to Tiamat’s evil creations, creating a new balance of power between good and evil after the fall of draconian civilization.
Starting in the Southern Peninsula of Oridalia, humans expanded north, displacing all nonhuman cultures before them. Elves to the forests and woods, Dwarves to the hills and mountains, Gnomes to the forested hills and the Shirefolk (Halflings) to the Three Fingers. Humans, very quickly, became the dominant race in Oridalia. With this dominance came friction with the other races, particularly the Elves. The Elf and Human War, AKA the Elf-Human War, fought over five millenia ago, caused a very long standing rift between the two races and forced the elves to relocate north of the Zauber Berge. The Elf-human War was a direct result of Tiamat’s machinations — to cause a rift between the elves and Humans. She created, then left to be easily found, an evil sword of great power. A human, known as the Indomitable Overlord, took up the sword, formed great armies, and made war upon the Elves. The war nearly wiped out the Elven race, but a great leader rose from their ranks. Known as Anador the Great, he organized the remainder of the elven population and moved them to the forests north of the Zauber Berge where they have flourished and expanded their domains to cover the entire northern portion of the Oridalian continent between the mountains and the Northern Ice Cap. The whole area is now known as the Realms of Anador in his honor. As time passed, the rift has slowly healed, but the elves still hold some enmity towards humans to this day. The Realms of Anador, the elvish realms of the north, are still fairly dangerous areas for any human to travel.
